Our Story

Irwin is a seasoned physical therapist with 20 years of clinical experience. He had an ankle, knee, and back injury playing Fencing. After many failures, this eventually led him to become a Physical Therapist. He has spent the majority of his career as an orthopedic specialist. Humbled by knowledge gaps in the complexity of the human body, combined with each individual’s unique past experiences, led Irwin to strive to learn more so he can tackle difficult cases.

Irwin earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Physical Therapy in 1998. He took courses and received his Mechanical Diagnosis and Therapy (Cert-MDT) certification from the Mckenzie Institute in 2008. This training has helped change the approach to low back pain treatment but soon realized the need for a more effective combined hands-on approach. In 2018, he passed the Certification for Manual Physical Therapy (CMPT) exam. To ensure that he can claim to be practicing the best current evidence in Physical therapy, he took and passed the Board-Certification exam for Clinical Specialist in Orthopedic Physical Therapy (OCS) last 2019. Irwin passed the Certification exam for Orthopedic Manipulative Therapist (COMT) exam last 2021. As a requirement of the Fellowship program, “The Addition of Portland Load Transfer Test to the Assessment Cluster for Gluteal Tendinopathy” -his research project- was accepted for presentation at the American Academy of Orthopedic Manual Physical Therapists in Cleveland last 2021. Irwin became a Fellow of the American Academy of Orthopedic Manual Physical Therapists (FAAOMPT) last January 2022. According to American Academy of Orthopedic Manual Physical Therapists, there are only 45 Fellowship trained Manual Physical Therapists in the State of New York. He is also a Clinical Fellowship Instructor for the North American Institute of Orthopedic Manual Therapy.
